TERODA

Pterodactylus (“winged finger”) is an extinct flying reptile genus of pterosaurs. It is currently thought to contain only a single species, Pterodactylus antiquus, the first pterosaur species to be named and identified as a flying reptile..

Monitoring UAV for contaminated areas

Teroda is a project in development for the construction of an open source mapping drone to be deployed in the field for reach high contaminated areas were humans can not. Will be equipped with an IR camera (Runcam OWL) for nigh vision and a overhead vertival camera for the mapping of the overflight areas. Te power of the motors and the tiny frame makes the Teroda prototype the perfect complemtnary tool for investigating environmental concerns.

Citizen science

With the Teroda project our main goal is to facilitate to the citizenship a tool of surveillance and control of the contaminated areas that affect them directly and to provide an accesible tool, easy to build and economic for the anticipation to disasters in the environment.

Teroda 0.1

VERSIÓN 0.1

With the latest version of the free navigation software iNavFlight the Teroda prototype makes use of multiple sensors (GPS, magnetometer, barometer, Giroscopoi and accelerometer) to get an automated flight that we can configure via the EZGUI app on any Android device.
It’s equipped with a RUNCAMOWL (IR) and an overhead camera that give the Teroda the ability to make low light and nocturnal flights in addition to multiple points of view observations while flying. The FPV (first person view) system incorporated records the live video signal. We will be able to fly the drone receiving the signal on a monitor or a FPV spectacle. 2280KV’s Emax 1806 engines and 20a little bee variators give the Teroda prototype enough power to load different tools like cameras, the Leptos station, and several other sensors for our research giving also enough power to move quickly and optimize the use of batteries for the tasks of observation and measurement.

Estimated total cost of the drone: €260
